               ADMISSION PROCESS

 
 

General Information

 
     
  Admission commences immediately after the publication of Higher Secondary Examination (W.B. Council) results and closes on such dates as may be fixed by the College and / or University. All admissions are made on the basis of merit.  
     
 

Students who have passed H. S. Examination (West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education) or equivalent examination from other Education Board or Indian University are eligible. Application for admission must be made in the prescribed application form to be had from the college office / or can be downloaded from the website of the college and supported by the following documents:

 
 

 

Admit Card & Mark Sheet
 
     

Transfer Certificate (for students coming from another College on transfer admission cancellation should be recorded properly).

 
     

A letter from the natural or legal Guardian appointing a local guardian.
 
     

A certificate from School / College mentioning the year of the examination the student has passed, his/her Roll No. in that examination and the division and total marks he/she has obtained.
 

Form downloaded from website must accompany the Bank Draft/ Cash of Rs. 40/-.

A student qualifying from other Education Boards or Indian University may be considered for admission on production of the following document in addition :

 
     

Original Migration Certificate from the University or Board to which he / she belonged.
 
   
 
  Incomplete application forms not complying with the instructions are liable to rejection.  
     
  Students migrating on transfer certificates in the middle of the Session or in the middle of a course of studies cannot be admitted.  
     
 

All admission of students including those on the basis of Migration Certificate are only provisional and subject to approval the University of Calcutta and is liable to be cancelled if the case cannot be reported to the University within one month from the date of admission on account of non-submission of necessary documents by the student(s) concerned.

  University Registration fee is payable only by students joining the University for the first time or on migration.  
     
 

Note:   A Student has to pay the following fees/fines/charges.

 
     
 

Tuition fees from June to the month of admission during the time of admission.
 
     

Library fine on expiry of the date of return of books per day per book Rs. 0.25.
 
     

Caution Money (In case of Journalism and Mass Communication Only). Rs. 2000/- for General, refundable after deduction, if any, at the completion of the course.

 
     

Deduction for breakage is made from the caution money and the balance is refunded after the publication of Part II results. Refund will be allowed to a student on making a written application supported by receipt/production of Fee acknowledgement Card and on his/her being identified by a member of the staff. Where the charge for breakage exceeds the amount of the Caution Money, the excess shall have to be paid by the students.

 
     

Once admitted no fees are refundable except caution money.

Payment of Fees

 
     
 

Tuition Fees for any month is payable within the 15th of that month but will be received without fine up to the end of the month. If the guardian applies in course of the month, time may be allowed in very special cases up to the 15th of the following month. The name of the defaulter will be struck off the Rolls and his attendance will not be recorded.

 
     
  The name may be restored only if all arrear dues are paid within 30 days.  
     
 

Tuition Fees for vacation months are payable before the commencement of the vacation. Names of defaulters at the end of the session are struck off the Rolls and are not carried over the Rolls of the next session.

 
     
 

Second and third year Degree Students shall have to pay all dues up to the end of the session before the College Test or before they are declared eligible for the University Examination, whichever is earlier.

 
     
 

Fees are received on production on the Acknowledgment Card duly filled in between 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on weekdays.

 
     
  Cheques are not accepted from students. Payment should always be made in cash, or as directed.

Change of Course/Subject

 
     
 

At the Degree Stages change from one course to another or change of subjects will  be permitted as per University Rules.

 
     
 

Those seeking admission to the B.A ./ B.Sc. / B.Com classes are to note that they will not be allowed to take up subject/subjects in which they failed to secure pass marks in H.S. / equivalent examination.

Cases of Unsuccessful Students

 
     
 

Plucked B.Sc. (Honours) students may be admitted as Casual students. B.Sc. (General) / B.A. (Hons. & General) / B.Com (Hons. & General) students may also be admitted as Casual students if they want to sit for their respective examination, for the second time.

2) For direct admission, forms have to be obtained from the College on the prescribed dates.
